This indigo was once destined to become a liner for a man's kimono and is called uraji in Japanese. This textile is still tied into the original state. And it has the original heavy paper folder, identification tags and stickers from the era. This indigo fabric has a tighter weave than the typical Japanese indigo textile because was originally destined for the liner of a high quality kimono. This textile was considered the very highest quality, very expensive item at the time.
