This indigo fabric was once destined to become a liner for a kimono which is called uraji in Japanese. This textile has it's original heavy paper folder, identification tags and stickers from the era.
This indigo fabric has a tighter weave than the typical Japanese indigo textile because was originally destined for the liner of a high quality kimono.
This textile was considered the very highest quality, very expensive item at the time it was woven.
