Hand Stitched Boro Short Jacket
100% cotton, Coffee Color Kasuri
Homespun and Hand Loomed Fabrics
Soft Texture
Wonderful example of infrequently found Japanese arts & crafts textile. Probably worn as a house jacket/coat.
Late 1800s to Early 1900s
This folk jacket has numerous thin areas, weak points, and poorly repaired sections. The photos show the fabric somewhat brighter than when viewed in person, the colors are more muted. It shows better in the photo than in person. Suggest using this folk jacket for historical or artistic display in order to illustrate the Japanese tradition of boro repairing for use long after its normal life span.
