Farmer’s Vests were a common sight around the turn of the Century (c.1900) and before in rural Japan. Farmers commonly hand-spun their cotton, then hand loomed the threads into fabric. They would also dye the fabrics into various patterns (kasuri) and solid colors (usually indigo). And from this effort they made clothing for their family’s use. |
